Profile

Natalia Glapiak

Architect, MSc
BA in Architectural Technology and Construction Management

I am an architect at Henning Larsen in Copenhagen.

I have experience of working in small and large teams, on architectural design projects across Europe, Middle East, USA and Australia.

I work on design concept studies and development from the earliest stages, both on the architectural and urban design level.

I also work with detailed design and implementing BIM into the project. Flexible workflow within Rhino and Revit is my daily way to explore design and create environment to manage the project efficiently.

Experience

Feb 2021 – present

Architect

Being a part of a team developing technical design of a children’s museum in Middle East, concept design of award-winning Cockle Bay Park in Sydney and developed design of a mix-use building at 105 Victoria Street in the centre of London.

Mar 2020 – Jun 2020

Architectural student assistant

Preparing architectural drawings, BIM collaboration with external collaborators and implementation through building modeling in Revit (technical phase of the museum project).

I became particularly good at:
– problem solving within complex 3D modeling in Revit,
– creating custom Revit families.

Aug 2019 – Feb 2020

Architect intern

Conceptual building proposals, volume studies through physical model making and 3D modeling in Rhino; layout proposals, 3D studies of interior spaces, light and materiality; architectural drawings; graphic design (idea diagrams, presentation boards); building modeling in Revit (project migration from Rhino).

I became particularly good at:
– Rhino 3D modeling,
– complex Revit 3D modeling within inter-disciplinary scope,
– Enscape for rendering and project presentation.

May – June 2021

Architect

– Concept and design development of residential houses in Denmark,
– Architectural drawings and conceptual modelling,
– Preparing architectural documentation for building permit application.

2017-2018
(12 months)

Architect intern

– Design and layout proposals.
– General layout drawings.
– Furniture layout proposals.
– Conceptual model making; building 3D modeling in Revit,
– Illustrations: room drawings with defined materiality (Revit / Photoshop).
– Graphic design: preparation of presentation booklets (InDesign).
– Illustrations, plans, sections, axonometric (Revit / Illustrator / Photoshop).

I became particularly good at:
– teamwork and inter-disciplinary collaboration,
– Revit: 3D modeling and architectural drawings
– InDesign: designing digital presentation for clients and project booklets
– 3Ds Max: basics of rendering.

2016 (6 weeks)

Architectural trainee

Preparing architectural drawings for construction documentation (building permit) – residential and commercial architecture. Creating a landscape design concept for the courtyard of residential building.

I became particularly good at:
– 3D modeling in SketchUp,
– photo/render editing in Photoshop.

Education

2018 – 2020

Master of Science, Architecture

Aalborg University

Specialization: Sustainability
Study program focused on designing sustainable architecture with an emphasis on indoor climate, evidence-based design, zero-energy buildings, and the method of life cycle assessment (LCA) of materials.

Master Thesis Sustainable children’s library in Chwaliszewo defended in June 2020. The project brings the social and environmental sustainability into focus. The library design is oriented on children as the main user group, and aims to respond to their needs in regards to functionality and indoor environment, to create an attractive and social spot for the neighborhood, and to establish a place, which will inspire and stimulate children to learn.

Master Thesis “Sustainable Children’s Library in Chwaliszewo”
2020 – Natalia Glapiak

2015 – 2018

Bachelor of Architectural Technology and Construction Management (Erasmus+ and Double Bachelor Degree)

VIA University College

Program concerning multi-disciplinary building solving problems, design process coordination and management, construction planning, architectural design and technology. All the aspects applied to new buildings as well as the renovation.

2013 – 2017

Bachelor of Science Engineering in Architecture

Poznan University of Technology

The study program with an emphasis on creative conceptual thinking and bringing the manual skills (sketching, painting, sculpting) into perfection, exploring proportion, scale, light and material in all the scales – from single building to masterplans, while exploring building regulations and history of architecture and urban planning. The program brought the an extensive knowledge and skills in designing and improving contemporary architecture and urban environment.
